How long have they been in, Bob? And what do you mean by "pointy tops"? Leeks can be harvested at any size, but you get the best yield when they are around 1.5 inches thick.

Is the pointy top a flower bud, I only ask because some of mine have them. I put them in late summer last season and have been growing slowly since then.

I find that my home grown leeks are not as chunky as shop brought, but they are just as tasty.
