I don't have any experience with growing cucumbers outdoors but in the greenhouse I have two in a large wooden square tub approx 76 x 76 cm and they take most of it over. I should think one in your pots would do but make sure you have canes for it to climb up - which you will have to tie the plants to.

We had so many we were giving them away. They continued to fruit until about September. At the moment I have 8 babies on one of the plants alone. They seem to grow overnight! Don't forget to feed them with tomato feed when they start to flower.
