Hello, firstly, scuff all the weeds off with an Hoe, then dig over to get any perrenial weeds out, incorporate some decent organic matter, now you can plant out with plants of your choice, or put a small membrane down and gravel it, you could plant this with some nice grasses, etc, or stand some nice pots on the gravel and plant these with summer bedding, and again in the autumn with winter interest plantings, or why not go for a jumble of pots different sizes shapes, small at the front going up in size to the back, plant as mentioned but also include some perrenials and foliage effect plantings, this will be easy to achive virtually maintenance free apart from watering and will turn a bland area round the garage into something pleasing to the eye, julien.

Dig out as much as you can and use something like Round Up to spray on what remains and on any new weed growth which there will be soon.

Then improve the soil with some general purpose compost from your supermarket or garden centre.

Decide what sort of planting you would like. If , for example, you would like low maintenance ground cover plants then scroll down to the bottom of this page and click on G for ground cover ideas. Or S for shade loving plants, and so on.

Hey I had the same problem round the back of my garage. I skimmed all the weeds off, covered with ground sheeting and bark. Mine is quite a shaded area so I have planted some ferns and ajuga for ground cover. I'm waiting to see how they take now. Good luck with yours!
