Please could anyone come up with an answer to the VARIETY if the Hypericum pictured here. There is a whole hedge of them fronting a local park but they are probably Hidcote and not a red berry in sight. This one in a front garden is so decorative, and wonderful for flower arrangers, I should think.

A previous answer says Androsae?mum but googled pictures do not seem to match.

It looks like Hypericum inodorum 'Elstead' to me.
They're as tough as old boots and great for flower and berry colour.

Hidcote tends to be much taller. My one is over 8' although I had only expected it to reach 6'.

I reckon its Hypericum Orange Flair - full name variously H. androsaemum Orange Flair, or H. inodorum Orange Flair.

Thanks Bamboo. It seems to be the most likely name for this attractive shrub. I never realised Hypericum is presented in so many varieties! Very good for flower arrangers too. The photo I eventually googled had it in a large pot.....good idea as it can be so 'spready'

I found that H. elstead wasn't a spreading one - not here anyway !
Didn't find that with H. hidcote either but DID find it with the small low growing ground cover types !

My Hidcote does not sprawl. It is a strong growing upright shrub.

Mine too. I love the red berries on this one.

The berries are nice but I am not keen on the small flowers although they would be good for flower arranging.

How do I say thanks?
