Our rhodos are getting very 'leggy' and need cutting back. If we cut into the old woody branches will it kill the shrub?

Thank you Digginfit. I know it's a bit late to cut them back but I'll give it a try.

We cut back one of ours earlier this year immediatly after it had flowered and it is now going great guns. So much re-growth. So no, it should not kill the shrub.
