I have recently put in two raised beds in our small back garden and want to fill these with suitable top soil to grow fruit and vegetables. Can anyone please advise me where to buy good quality top soil to grow fruit and veg in? What should the ideal ph be in the soil please?
Thank You. Regards, Dorzy.

For most fruits and veggies, the ideal pH is 7.0-6.5. The main dissenters are cole crops (broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, etc.) which prefer a slightly more alkaline soil (pH 7.5) to prevent club root; and blueberries, which prefer a more acid soil (pH about 4.8).

Thank you for your help, I will get onto the Internet for my top soil and ask for a suitable ph.
Will let you know how I progress but this may not be till next Spring!
Thank You. Kind Regards, Dorzy.

There are usually adverts in the local paper for this, or try your local garden centre, Dorzy. They usually have bags of treated soil for sale. Annie
