Yes, put them in.

I usually give clumps away at this time of year,so they should be fine..

Anytime - nothing short of microwaving them kills them.

You can split the clumps by pulling them apart. They are very easy to grow.

...and they spread like mad once established!! I'm going to thin mine out drastically when they've finished flowering because, lovely as they are, they take over the joint!! Very good at the back of a border though....Annie

There are less invasive varieties. Click on "C" in the A-Z at the foot of the page and then on Crocosmia to see a wonderful set of photos of various crocosmia being grown by GOY members.

Thank you all.. I have a thin strip of border in the bottom of the garden behind a path. Its a bit shady because of a huge white beam with a preservation order. previous owners planted Euphorbia, but I dont like them, I think its colourless.. so planting in clumps it is. I have no idea what variety Ive got!

They flower less well in shade

How about introducing some hardy Cyclamen? My C. hederifolium have been flowering for a few weeks now, then C. coum will follow. The leaves of both are beautifully marbled, they come out as the flowers are finishing and stay til the weather warms up - around May or so.
Both varieties thrive in shade and self seed somewhat, but not enormously. Gorgeous little plants :-)
