Runner Beans
By Kornos

For the last few years my runner bean flowers have dropped off before the plant has been pollinated-therefore only about 20% of the flowers became beans. I do keep them well watered, I use a fine spray on the flowers but I still loose 80% of the flowers. Any ideas? Thanks

Yes, I agree. I've seen sparrows and tits picking the flowers off runner beans just for the shear hell of it!
Or maybe they were after the aphids!

I have noticed that the bluetits go for the flowers like they do on my mahonia. so you could try netting them. or plant more so you salvage more beans.
