i want to place a tit box in my garden. the garden is small and at the end I have an arbour that is where the ssun starts from about 9 am can I place the tit box there or will the sun be to hot for any potential users. What is the best place please.

Hear, hear, Bren unless Lizziewales wants roasted Bluetits. I suspect though that Bluetits are canny enough to avoid a nestbox in a sunny position. They seem to spend weeks inspecting and tailoring them, especially the entry hole and I suspect they will soon discover that the interior is too hot for comfort.

As you say in direct sun is a no-no.My box is facing approx North and on a shady trellis.It is the midday and early afternoon sun that is the hottest and that is when the nest box should be shaded
