hi we are retiring to live in the philippines,,i am thinking of taking some bulbs with me,,what are your views,,is it possible to grow the old favorites over there

if you get intouch with defra they will be able to tell you about the legalities of taking plants abroad. or ask the philippine embassy.

As Sid says all the bulbs that require a long cool season will not do well in a tropical or even sub-tropical situation. Even here in southern US we can only grow a few spring flowering bulbs.

hi guys thanks for the input,,,i thought if i planted in tubs,,,then when finished flowering,put the bulbs in the bottom of an old working fridge this may do the trick whats your views bob

I suspect not, since many bulbs need a period of cold to kick start them into growth in the spring. I know a relation of mine tried to grow daffodils in a southern part of the USA and couldn't because they didn't get the cold. Also, there may be issues about importing plant material into the country.
