Please can you identify these two plants from my garden? I think the one on the right might be a weed but I'm not sure...!
Many thanks.

Its a weed called herb robert. small magenta flowers and wind blown seed abit like a dandelion seed.
Rydeboyz is spot on with the dianthus.

Sorry Seaburngirl but I think the one on the right is the winter stage of Willow Herb (Epilobium).with as Seaburngirl says with magenta flowers and feathered seed that spreads it all over the garden.

Crikey - I found loads of these 'herb roberts', I wasn't sure what they were either, as I didn't plant them myself I pulled them up and glad I did too. The roots get established quickly. I have never left them in long enough to see the flowers, but if they are prolific self seeders I will not let them get that far. Unfortunately our neighbour is not garden-proud so they may have blown into our garden from there.

Yes you are quite correct poaannua, I have always got these two names mixed up from being little, i should have double checked. Herb robert is one of the cranesbill crowd. i had the image of willow herb in my mind when i described it. thats why we should use the latin names i guess.

Seaburngirl. I noticed it because Herb Robert is one of my favourite weeds. I hate pulling him out and often leave him to flower. also his white flowered brother.. Silly I know but I used to make a Flora of the Wild Flowers before I ever had a Garden. Even now to find an undentified wild flower gives me a fine feeling.

« Here is another one...This one looks like it's just been left to it's own...
The one on the right is a weed, I don't know the name of it but it's very common.
The blue/grey leaved plant on the left is a Dianthus (Carnation/Pink).
