Previous question
Would recommend summer pruning as two diseases which affect cherry trees are silver leaf and bacterial canker.although these more prevalent in fruiting trees summer pruning recommended as sap not rising leaving open wound on tree - hence open to infection. As for pruning if done at this time any mishapen trailing branch can be removed to just above leaf joint . this can be done all way round tree to waist height.Lower if preferred but any higher looks unsightly.
