Better late than never. Your weather should not be too severe to plant it outside in a semi-shady spot, Trilliums are woodland plants. I would plant it with about an inch of soil over the rhizome ('rhizome' rather than 'bulb'). Trillium do not like to be disturbed so it may be a couple of years before it flowers.

Making sure that the soil is rich in leaf mould, and taking a sample of the soil from a thriving patch--to introduce symbiotic fungi--will also help. Trilliums need the right kinds of mycorrhizae.

Bit late but I would still plant outside where you want to flower.
