i am keen to start my hanging baskets and bedding plants, however i have been warned about spring frost, what can i do to protect my plants if the weather gets cold?

I wouldn't put them out yet bit too cold yet at night and we could still get a frost, if you do you could cover them with gardeners fleece in the hopes it protects them, or plant them up and keep in the greenhouse.

It's a bit early to plant out bedding just yet I don't usually plant mine out until May. I have used newspapers to cover plants up at night if there is a chance of a light frost.

I agree - the only plants that I have planted out are my sweet peas. Anything else would not survive for at least another month!

I am getting my sweet peas acclimatised gradually to the daytime temperatures then I shall put them out next week, hopefully if the weather is o.k. I think there is a difference in where you live too. Further south of Britain the season is a couple of weeks earlier.
