Ordering from Garden Catalogues..please can anyone tell me if 'bearded irises' supplied as 'bare roots' (delivered from feb-april) will flower this year? I ask because I had a few supermarket bulbs given to me last year..none of them got as far as flowering, tho the foliage that emerged was very healthy..
Thanx very much :-)

i have bought bare root ones and the larger plants did indeed flower in the first season. dont forget to leave the rhizome 1/2 on the surface of the soil so it bakes in the summer. this helps for neext years flowers.

It's possible that they will bloom this fall, if they are what they call "re-bloomers". Even re-bloomers are more likely to wait until spring of 2013, though.
