My Photinias have gone a beautiful colour with new red leaves

But one of them has brown spots on it and they seem to be dropping a lot of their leaves. They are in a sheltered spot in clay soil. They look to have large areas of 'stalk' without any leafage. Is this normal?

There has been so many questions recently about this problem. I sprayed mine with fungicide when I first noticed the brown spots . That was about 2 months ago and then sprayed again a few weeks later. The short hedge I have with five photinias is now looking much better with loads of red shoots and the leaves with spots are looking healthier too. Dont know if it's too late for you, but spraying with a fungicide is all I can suggest because those brown spots is a fungal disease.
