thanks for info on budd buzz maturity but would this still flower this year if the plant is only approx 5" high now

Yes, it will - pruning for these is to cut down to 3 or 4 'buds' from the base in March, which is probably about 3-8 inches - the plant puts on about 3 or 4 feet of growth a season, so will flower this year.

This is a new dwarf variety, so there's not much to go on, but I would still expect it to flower this year. Buddliea grow very fast from now into summer and I think it might surprise you. My one, not a Buzz, however, has only a few inches of new growth, but it will go to several feet by the time it flowers. Let us know how it goes? Lots of new Buzz owners will be interested.
