hi all; i have some acers in pots, they are in ericacious compost, and i usually water with rain water, but at the moment i have no water butt! due to house move, will tap water be ok, i live in southeast uk, and water is hard chalky, thanks for your advice, vic

Yes, they'll be fine. Mine were mostly watered with tap water to no ill effect. Acers aren't acid lovers as such - they just don't like alkaline conditions, and a bit of tapwater isn't going to do much harm.

tap water is realy good for seeds as it has know nasty things in it to .
