Did it have the furry pussy willow before the leaves?

Kilmarnock willow, if you don't like the branches hanging right down to the ground you can prune them back a little - but only a little. We only prune ours when the branches start to straggle across the road!

But if you are going to prune then do it now, they flower on new wood.

Seems a shame to prune now?

Only prune if you want to, it isn't necessary to do so though it will start to spread out across the soil now it has reached the ground

Pruning now encourages new growth so you get plenty of flowers next Spring, the tree very quickly grows new branches with nice new leaves.
