What should I do with bamboo that looks like it is dying?

I bought a bamboo (reduced from £30 to £5) as it was looking very sad! It is about 2 metres high but the leaves are either all brown or green but going brown. The stems look healthy though. I will have to keep it in a pot as it is one of the rampant species. Will it survive? Should I cut it right back?

I have a bamboo in a pot in the shade and often very neglected, but I give it a feed and a good watering in the spring and it always comes back

i have a couple of bamboos in pots, one always goes brown over winter and early spring, i think its the position its in and maybe lack of water through winter, i gave mine a good watering at weekend and it is coming back again, don't give up on it, i haven't cut mine x
