Pieris 'Prelude' - Hi just want to double check before I attack! Newly purchased and planted earlier this year, it has now finished flowering and I believe I need to deadhead and feed? Thanks :)

Ok, thanks, I asked because on googling it e-how says to deadhead, but on both your advice I'll leave it. Do I just feed it the once or weekly/fortnightly for a while? Thank you for your help.

Depends what you're using, but I'd just give it a couple of good handfuls of Growmore sprinkled round the base and then lightly turned into the soil. That'll do till next year.

Ah ok, I was going to use a liquid ericacious feed.

I'm a little confused now as I didn't think growmore was recommended for acid loving plants? Lol, you can tell I'm new at gardening!

Growmore's fine, its just a balanced feed. Certainly, if your soil is alkaline and your'e trying to keep it acidic round the plant, then you MIGHT buy a specialist acid feed, but I never bother, I think they're a waste of money. If the soil is too alkaline for a plant, it's better to add sequestrene iron tonic once a year to sort it out and use a cheaper feed such as Growmore.

Thank you all.

I have never deadheaded them - just let the flower heads fall off. A spring feed sounds right for this time of year.
