Are my plants diseased!?
some of my young plants have bits of white fur on the soil, i thought it was from the humidity being on the windowsills but isnt that what happens in a greenhouse? they seem ok theyre not doomed are they?! :(

A sunny windowsill is a greenhouse. It is caused by high humidity - the sun heats the soil and it evaporates and plants trap the humidity allowing mildew to form. I just wipe it away with my finger and it stops damage to the seedlings.

Hi Leigh,
It sounds like it may be a type of mildew - is the soil constantly damp? I'm new to pests and diseases of plants, so I'm sure someone will be along with an answer soon. In the meantime, would it be possible to upload a photo of the problem?
Take care,
Tim
