Anyone tell me what this is?

I'm sure nobody in my family planted this. I like it. Will someone please tell me what it is.
Many thanks to those who replied. I've checked in my encyclopedia of garden plants and it's definitely Veronica gentianoides. Stilll don't know how it got there...but it's very welcome.

Looks more like Veronica gentianoides to me.

What are the leaves like? A flat rosette of large leaves, or small shiny ones? I tend towards the Veronica - mine is just about to flower in the next few days.

Yes i think it is Veronica gentianoides 'alba' too. I have a pretty pale blue just coming into flower too.

Could it be a verbascum? It is really pretty!
