Any brown leaves on Hellebores should be cut off at the base and burnt or put in the dustbin... don't compost them. This may be hellebore leaf blotch which is a fungal disease and if left on it will infect the new shoots and leaves. You will need to cut off all old leaves every spring once the flower stems start to lengthen.

The old leaves do die off at this time of year as long as the rest of the leaves are healthy from the base and also we have had a lot of wind lately which would cause wind damage on tender plants and it has been a very drying wind for things in pots. Make sure you keep it reasonably well watered.
