This succulent has spectacular flower and I wonder what it is. I thought it was a schlumbergera but now think not - the leaves are not right for that. The flower started as a whorl and a day later opened out, about 3" wide and 4" long,a beautiful reddish colour.

I think Christmas cactus have smaller leaves, one atop the next. This has large ones, tho' with similar jagged edges.

Whilst I don't know what it is I would agree not a Christmas Cactus as we have several of those.

Its Epiphyllum.. It's been driving me mad trying to remember the name, my neighbour has the most beautiful example in her conservatory, just had to pop round and take a look at the label :0)

Yes it's an Epiphyllum. There are some beautiful varieties to be had. All mine have died but I intend to get some more soon ...
