Good rich compost (I have mixed in well rotted horse manure with mine). Space - they grow quite a lot - supports that the plant can be tied to - I use canes and daily watering but not swamping. Feed once a week with tomato feed once the flowers appear. Cut the cues as soon as they are big enough to encourage more.
