I have a big problem with my plug plants I ordered them online and they got here two days later all root bound and yellowing. The lobelias and verbena are the worse. Is there anything I can do to save them atm they are in smallish coir pots and I am trying to keep them in good light but only in the house as it states a cool well lit windowsill. Having no alternatives other than outside I am moving them around through the day to catch the light.
I shall be emailing Thompson & Morgan to let them know I am not impressed with such shoddy plants albeit the journey 2 days !! must have been bad as the package was soggy and torn open and the post was hours late and what with the bad weather they didn't stand much chance Lols! I wanted to know should I give up on them and put them in the compost bin or will they come around because even the petunias which I'm not fond off are going a bit yellow now :)

Oh hi, am new here and have loads of queries re gardening but atm it's the plug plants - I think I will ask for a refund but I'm keeping my fingers crossed they will survive, I say that because I just about finished off some chrysanthemums I bought in B&Q but they have come around. Thanks :)

I had the same problem with Thompson and Morgan, I ordered begonia jumbo plug plants, its the first and last time I will order plug plants online. They came and they were tiny and most of the new little shoots had dropped off in the packaging. I emailed them as there was no phone number and a week later they got back to me and advised they would send a replacement. The replacement ones were in the same condition so I just cut my losses. I have planted them and since April hardly any new growth and they have just struggled and struggled, so no hanging basket for me this year.

Last year my pink busy lizzies flowered red and orange, I took a photo and emailed them, kept them and got all my money back, try the same...hopefully it will work for you too

Ah that's a shame I won't use them after this but haven't got much choice other than on the bus route which leaves B&Q not very good. I'll just have to concentrate on what I have growing and that's not much In the meantime I'll do some research into reviews on other gardening centres.
I used Crocus online about five years ago and those plants were ok and some have survived the others have sucombed to my free ranging bunnies :)

Welcome Maggie, not sure where you live but here the local street markets sell well grown plants......also Idid very well with Tesco and others on here with morrisons just buy them if the plants look well and look as if they have been cared for, watered etc. But do contact T &M they have always replaced poor goods...be firm withthem!

Hi thanks Pam, actually I'm in West Wales I must get around to doing a profile lols I'll try Tesco although they are not my favourite people atm having two weeks running not had any substitute for fresh cream cakes and horrible greens my gang ( bunnies ) wouldn't have anything to do with them so into the compost bin they went.
Morrisons is a long way out for me but am hoping to pick up something in a new ECO shop just opened in Cardigan.... had some huge plants very healthy I think I'll phone T&M because don't want the same thing happening to my special shrimp plants coming in July..... Old what's his name recomends them he said" be adventurous and have a go" Alun Titchmarshmouse couldn't remember his name lols.

I had free plug plants via gardeners world mag, that came from thompson & morgan. They were in perfect condition and are growing on well. There should have been 36 plants, but each plug had 2 or 3 plants in so my only problem is were am i going to put them all.Certainly good value for just postage.

LOL, Alan Titchmarsh, he would have a fit to be described as old!!!!

Oops he isn't old is he? Just an old saying :) oh flipping heck look what I called him, I must check for typos Lols! It's me that's getting old an ageing by the minute, thanks for all replies and yes that is a very good bargain I must have been unlucky my poor plants were in something akin to a thimble sized containers and some of the roots were so long they were wrapped around about four plants. Well they have had a sunbathe and are looking a bit more cheerful. It's been nice chatting, must go now and move some of my lighter pots it's getting windy again. don't you just hate extreme weather :)

I've just Googled Garden Centres Cardigan and got quite a list up. I keep meaning to try Penrallt but its a bit far north for us.

We do have a lot but quite far from the bus route ( I don't drive) Typically there was "Oasis" it seemed good and only minutes walk up from me but I didn't bother because I wasn't interested in gardening but now I am it's closed down. Tomorrow I think I'll try the local WI they might have some and there's always the little gardening centre beside B&Q they are nice people and helpful

Hope you get what you want then Maggie. Are there any gardeners near you from whom you might cadge a lift when they visit a GC? Just a thought...
