What Insect?

I have noticed just recently that on the my herb plant Feverfew and my Honeysuckle some of the leaves have a white worm shape something on the leaves, it is not like the trail left by snails and slugs, or at least I don't think so. So can anyone tell me what it is and how I can prevent whatever it is from causing any harm to my plants and of course try to prevent it from spreading?

Very annoying critters and hard to get rid of, since they are inside the leaf and cannot be got at with insecticides. You have to use a systemic one if you use that sort of thing. Otherwise you just remove and destroy the affected leaves. Unlike a lot of pests though, these are more unsighlty than harmful.

Thank you Treesandthings and Owdboggy for your very helpful answers. At least now I know what's causing it and it's not as bad as I first thought from what you told me, thank you both.
