I mistook comfrey plants for foxgloves and made my own plant food by soaking the leaves in water. This was diluted and poured over potatoe and runner bean plants.
Will they still be edible or should I destroy?

That was my first thought Pam, but don't know enough about it to offer further advice. Hopefully someone with more knowledge re digitalis will respond.

You wouldn't want to drink the concoction made with foxglove leaves but when it has been sprayed onto the soil or foliage of a plant it wouldn't hurt any edible parts when you eat them.

Thanks Guys. Will not dig everything up just yet. Hopefully someone who is clued up on foxgloves can reassure me. Reading on the internet they are quite toxic and I did pour the water off the feed directly into the soil. Now known is our house as the Germinator as I think I have destroyed a full seasons crop.

I really do doubt that the digitalis feed will affect your plants or your garden.

There is a member called 'Thepoisongarden' who also has his/her own website. Perhaps you could send a PM or contact through the website for further advice....

If this link doesn't work you can access via the members page on GOY. Just use the search box at the top of the page and search for thepoisongarden
Perhaps your new name should be The Terminator :)))

I would give them a week or two to metabolize anything they might have absorbed, after that, they should be safe to eat.

Hi Bgarside and welcome to GoY. Comfrey plants are what you can make a feed or tea of, so if you used them there is no problem. If you actually used foxgloves I am not sure, never heard of them being used in this way but that doesn't mean they can't be.
Just checked one of my books and it says comfrey, nettles, horsetail, camomile, pot marigolds, achillea or dandelion. I've only used comfrey and that was many years ago now.
Scrumpygraham is a grower of vegetables perhaps he will know...
I would doubt though that it would harm the plants or you when you eat the potatoes and beans.
