Do pigeons eat gooseberries? We had a lovely crop and were about to pick them but within the past few days all our gooseberries have disappeared. Its a mystery.

Oh, yes! They eat them all long before the fruit ripens and break down the stems in the process with their weight. The only way to stop them is netting.

Last year my Dad lost his entire crop of gooseberries to blackbirds in one day ... this year he's grown them under netting. Sorry you lost them, must be very frustrating.

Snap. Never had to net them before.

How do I say thanks?
