why have my flowers come up for the 3rd time now without any petals? i think they looked like 'Rudbeckia hirta' marmalade,only a guess as i didnt plant them originally. many thanks sue

A photo would be helpful.

There are actually Rudbeckias that only have cones, with tiny hardly noticeable petals!
Look at Rudbeckia occidentalis 'Green Wizard' - it might be the one you have.

thanks for responding. well i know this flower had petals to begin with as they were present 3/4 years ago,an orangey colour as i recall. but that is the query,there are no petals now,i will try and take a photo.

@spritzhenry,ive just looked up the green wizard,it looks alot like that doesnt it,but as i said i do remember it having petals before lol

Aint that strange! I immediately thought of Green Wizard too, although I'd forgotten it's name. I wonder if the Wizard ever has a few petals.....reverts to species...or perhaps it 'is' a species...I've no idea...I think you should tell yourself its the Wizard Susan!

My picture is rudbeckia Marmalade Susanivy! I grow them from seed every year but they have never survived the winter.

wow thanks guys! I see cornish,they cant be rudbeckia marmalade then lol. But yes karen and spritz,i decided to tell myself they are green wizards haha,cos otherwise they look very healthy. Thanks again guys x
