My Chaenomeles Knap Hill Scarlet has set fruit for the first time. Do I let these fruits ripen and fall naturally or will they be any good for making quince jelly?

Although I've only just noticed them, the little green fruits are already forming the typical quince shape. All I know is that they are related to the edible quince but not whether they are themselves edible.

We make Quince jelly every year, great stuff. No so keen on the Quince marmalade though. A single ripe fuit is a great air freshener too.
