Morning everyone,

I have a clematis which appears to have Mildew (I think). The leaves have gone a horrible colour and a lot of the leaves at the base of the plant has fallen off. I thought that I had dug it up 2 years ago as it always goes like this and planted a Princess Diana one in its place but lo and behold its came back with a vengeance this year and is rambling alongside it. Will it spread to the Diana one and how can I treat it. I am not too sure of the name of the clematis but it looks like Rooguchi, and apart from this problem, it was growing and spreading really well and has lots of flowers on it. Many thanks.

My clematis is exactly the same. The flowers are great but the lower leaves are mildew and turn brown and crispy. It can't be lack of rain and each Spring I vow to dig it up and put it in deeper to see if this makes a difference. I await any answers to this as well.

There is a chemical control you can try Marion "Scotts Fungus Clear Ultra" You can use it on all ornamental plants. Cost about £10.
