What is this tree?
By Nathook

It has recently flowered and has a very strong and not unpleasant aroma. I'd love to know what it is, and any help would be great.
Thanks in advance.

That was what we were thinking, but the flower is very different to most of the yukka flower pictures i have seen on the intertubes.

Definitely Cordyline Australis. Have you noticed that every flower shoot splits the head and you get more flower shoots next year. it eventually
A tip - cut off the flower head as soon as it has finished as close to the plant as possibe. If you wait longer, the stem will set and gets very very hard to cut.

This is the first time it has flowered since i've been here, so its all new to me. It would be great if it did split into 2 trunks... A few years and i'll have somewhere to hang my hammock :)
I'll be ready with the dismembering tools! When you say finished, do you mean once the flowers have all bloomed and are receeding?
