Basil.

This year I've grown a few basil plants ( Magical Michael) in the greenhouse. it's now 16 ins tall with lots of purple flowers. We don't need it for another month. Will it last 'till then or should I dig it up and put it in the compost bin ?
I was hoping to use it with my toms for soup but the toms are very late this year.
Thanks in anticipation.

Cut the flowers off and reduce the height of the stems by about a third - if it sets seed, you won't get much more growth.
