Nope, A. spinosus leaves are much more thistle-like. It's more likely to be one of the A. mollis hybrids, such as 'Summer Beauty'.

That's it, I am giving up identifying plants on here or on any other site. From now on every plant asked about will be labelled 'George'.
The Acanthus in our garden which came from the National Collection labelled A, spinosus is exactly the same as that one shown.

Sorry, Owdboggy and Ladyessex! I certainly wouldn't be the first time that I was wrong! I was remembering one in Butchart Gardens that was labelled A. spinosus, which the foliage closely resembled a fine Scotch Thistle.
