I sent a photo of my poorly Oak Leaf Hydrangea in March and just wanted to send a couple of pictures of how it looks now. My only problem is that something is eating it. Could it be slugs?

Yip, a caterpillar! It eats all the leaf like that. Vine Weevil, slugs and snails all eat the leaf in a different way.

Oh thanks. I have previously looked for the culprit but as yet can't find it. Is it just a case of lifting each leaf or is there an easier way to get the critter !!

Mine is eaten a lot worse than that and I assumed it was slugs or snails - never thought of caterpillars!

Go out at night with a flashlight, Pdb, and see if you can find it then--they work at night.

Looks more like caterpillar damage to me.
