My Solanum Crispums are doing the same, It happened to my young white one in the spring, I cut all the dead stems off and its recovered. Today I saw the young blue one has dying stems and crisp brown leaves. So again I have removed all the dead or dying bits.
It looks very like its been sprayed with weed killer but I know this has not happened. So I am guessing its 'tomato spot wilt', due to the very wet conditions this year. I will be getting a suitable spray for them now too.

Not familiar with this plant, but as it is a member of the "potato" family, could it be suffering from blight?

There is a lot of it about!

Just a thought!!

I know they are related to the potato Tg, but in all the years I have grown them I have never come across them suffering blight? This is the first yeaqr mine have ever shown disease but it has been very wet? Perhaps someone will be able to help us identify the problem?

I would agree with Tg possibly blight

I dont know if there any connection with the question but mine has been healthy and very vigorous for years and has suddenly died this year.

Any chance of a picture of the leaves?

Actually I thought tomato spot wilt was a type of blight.
Did it suddenly go brown and crispy, but with no sign of fungus Inverglen.? I am quite upset about mine as in all the years, its the first time this has happened and to both the young ones.

Yes Drc. No fungus , no sign of disease. It just died for no apparent reason. Did have healthy growth and flowers earlier this year but then crispy brown leaves over the last few weeks and totally dead thick branches . It has all happened surprisingly quickly. It has an enormous root but no sign of any new life.

Oh dear Inverglen sorry to hear that. I think I will leave both mine and see if next year they are alive?

How do I say thanks?
