My cordyline has flowered for first time what do I do when flower is finished?

I have had this cordyline for over ten years and it has never flowered before, but next door have dramatically cut down a large hedge earlier this year and I guess this is why. The flower was enormous and has nearly finished its had loads of bees on it!!. Do I just leave the flower alone to wither and die? Any information will be greatly appreciated

Cut off the flowering stem as close to the trunk of the plant as you can get, once the flowers are finished. Great flowers though.
