or Climbing Ena Harkness, a very old rose, fabulous fragrance, and a newer variety, Compassion, which is good on a pillar or arch. Neither of these gets out of hand and they aren't ramblers.

Think about New Dawn, repeat flowering Climber growth up to 6 mtrs. some scent, one of the best of my climbers.

Or 'Iceberg' which is totally reliable in my garden and problem free. I have just bought Ghislaine de Feligonde from Peter Beales Nursery in Attleborough, Norfolk. Pretty colour, lovely scent and virtually thorn free. I would recommend having a look at their website. They recommend roses for different situations. If you inadvertently buy something too vigorous, it will be a constant problem.

Try Arthur Bell climber. We bought ours from Morrisons for only £1.39 a few months back. It was only a bare rooted plant but has come on tremendously. Very nice scented yellow Roses. The Range stocks this variety too. Widely available on the Net but expensive due to p&p. beware of the evil vine weevil they love roses such as this!
