back garden continued

It has been a very busy year so far! I cant believe we are in June already.
My other half got me a lovely camera for my birthday so I wet out today and practised taking some photos. These show the flowers that are developing in the front garden and the new planting in the back garden.
This is our new rose we planted in the winter. It is called ‘Ice Cream’. As you can see it comes out very white and gets cream as it ages.
More front garden pictures including rose ‘Blue For You’ which I grew in my old garden and some of the bees that visit us all the time now. We are very pleased with the bees and birds that visit our garden now.
Here is how the herb garden looks now we have put the borage seedlings out.
On Monday mum helped me pick some plants for the new beds before she went back to Scotland.
Here are a few pics of things doing well at the moment. We are hopeful that the strawberries will survive until they are ripe enough to eat. I am trying to train the climbing rose ‘Avalanche’ to grow up and along the bottom of the kitchen window.

Hi Rachel, it's all coming along very nicely, well done, [and mum], Derek.

You are doing a great job, and as time goes by it will just get better, my lads garden is similar to yours and his lawn borders have gradually increased to let in more plants with a little persuasive help from me, his lawn is slowly shrinking and his wife who has a good sense of humour gives me the stare every time I bring some plants for him.

Thank you all.

Looks really lovely Rachel! Well done. You have some really pretty flowers and shrubs growing. A nice array of colour! Getting help and advice from your Mum has been invaluable!

All looking good, are you a herb user, or like me just like the look of them? Only the odd bit of mint or thyme gets used here! That Blue rose is stunning, as is the Foxglove and strawberries - Yum. Just need to keep the Blackbirds away.

Those white roses are perfection! Really lovely. Your photos are splendid & look as though your practised for ages! The garden looks extremely neat and well cared for - well done!

It was the digitalis that seduced me! But I want to get the one that came second in the Chelsea plant of the year competition. All sold out for this year.

We do use some of them Honeysuckle but not all as I don't have a clue what to use some of them for.

I just made a lovely egg salad for tomorrow’s guests. I put my chives in it. And they are great in potato salad too of course (but you knew that). Avoid the flower stems though. They are tough! Borage is essential in a good Pimms Cocktail darling!! Lol! Thyme is fab. With roasted chicken. Basil is a great addition to tomato based recipes, and oregano is great with italian pizzas etc. Rosemary really brings out the best in Roasted vegetable dishes, like the one you made me recently. Mint is lovely added to a glass of water, your pimms, new potatoes and chocolate desserts. Coriander is great in a curry. Parsley is a great addition to lentil dishes, especially lentil soup.

Hi Rachel, well done, your garden is looking really great. You have certainly moved to somewhere a little warmer and supposedly LOWER rainfall ! Time will tell. <];~)

Don’t think so Alan. Dundee is very dry! Warmer...definitely.

Hi Gerardine...that’s very easy todo! Hard boiled eggs, mayonnaise, chives, salt and pepper! Nothing fancy, very old-fashioned, but very good! Your lamb sounds delish!

Wow!thats a great little camera Rach! Love the panoramic. The climbing rose is actually ‘Iceberg’ but you were close...both destructive bodies of frozen water! 😉 Avalanche is the name of your spring flowering Clematis. I love that Digitalis so much. I might acquire some myself. But the wind is terrible here today and I’ve been stuck inside. Some of My lilac blossoms are lying on the floor. The wind has blown them clear off the tree! Great blog.
