Hi All, been meaning to join up ever since one of your members featured some of my Geums on her malvern blog. I own and run East Of Eden Nursery near Carlisle in the Eden Valley and have spent the last few years breeding and raising some new Geums, 48 new varieties so far with more new ones to come next year. I have finally got my website up and running where you can view all the new varieties, (six included below) took longer than i had hoped to get my website done but that was due to a major brain op at the back end of last year. luckily it was bening (an inflammation), and i am now well on the road to recovery.

I can see those Pictures starting a new addiction for some :))
I do like that Eden Valley Angel.

Welcome from me as well, pleased you are getting back on your feet, that must have been a very painful and scary time for you.
I now have a name for one of my newest plants, lol, and seeing your lovely photo`s a few more added to my wishlist...

Thanks for the welcomes, yes it's been a pretty awful and difficult time for me, was recovering nicely from the op when i lost a younger brother in July to stomach cancer, and then there's been this terrible weather that we,ve all had to suffer. Having said that all this has made me more determined to get things done that i seem to have been putting off for years ie the website, and i've applied for Chelsea next year, something i'd never considered before.
As far as growing conditions go for Geums, i find that most of my introductions are pretty tolerant where they grow most being derived from Rivale, so they do just as well in shade as sun and will grow in most soils that are not constantly dry. They all survive the winters up here in Cumbria without any bother. Just add plenty of compost if you're planting them in Clay.
Sweet Angel Dar is a nice dusky pink or Stevie Nicks with it's double frilly edged petals. Then there's the ones featured above Toffee Apples and East Of Eden, both of which are good do'ers, and the lovely pink flushed Magic Toybox.

If you are aiming for Chelsea I think most of the exhibits are grown in Polytunnels ?
Didnt know our Stevie the Terrible had a Geum named after him. Ha ha.

Thanks for the advice. I hope you are accepted for Chelsea - and good luck if you are :)
My local nursery were at Chelsea for the first time this year - they won a Silver Gilt. He was over moon!

Hello and welcome to Goy, good to hear you are getting over major surgery must have been a difficult time for you?
I love Geums but found they did not last from year to year. until I got a Geum Borisii which flowers all summer.
I would certainly welcome a suggestion for some pink ones ( love the Geum El Wano) and a few growing tips for my heavy clay?
