OOO Yum!

We had a BBQ in the garden today and just as we were going to eat we had a huge thunderstorm.
It didn’t stop us though as we were sat under the gazzebo. My arm got a bit wet as I hooked out the gammon steaks from the BBQ fire.
I cut a gammon joint down into four thick steaks. The steaks were nice with a sauce made from onions, mustard and creme fraiche. We also had potato wedges coated in lemon and spices. and a side salad made from some of our garden salad leaves. Afterwards we had a bottle of wine and some raspberries (not our own) with some ice cream. Then finished up with an irish coffee and we all had a little snooze after such a hard time !..no better way to spend a Sunday morning..lol :-)
The birds scoffed down the fat as soon as I put it on the birdtable – we didn’t put the sauce over the fat for that reason!!

Thanks Cinderella the steaks were so juicy (even tho' I say so myself ..lol) and not so dry as under the grill or in the oven. Thanks for your lovely comments :-)

Sounds delicious Richard ... nice idea to go for something other than burgers & sausages ... & the sauce sounds good too. There's nothing better than eating outside on a nice day with good company & a bottle of wine. Fantastic! ;o)

glad you had a lovely day Richard.Mouth watering stuff Lol.We had a massive cloud burst this afternoon,..so no watering to do :o)) The foliage on potato's was completely flattened, but is slowly straightening up.I just had time to move the salad stuff in pots, under the patio table, with the tumbler tomato's I thought about the poor mixed salads in the guttering, and expected them to be washed overboard...but they have remained completely intact,no soil missing...how good is that? So well pleased :o))))

We did enjoy the BBQ Carol thanks :-)
Thanks Bloomer at least we didn't have to water the garden today either.
My salads are OK in the guttering too. I drilled a few drainage holes in the guttering before just in case. Last year they were OK too and I didn't have any drainage holes. :-)

Hope you enjoyed you sleep after all that hard work at least its fresh produce you used not the old burger and hot dogs lol, I too am not one for the usual bar b ques, this sounded delicious. Thoughtful about not placing the sauce on the fat for the birds.

My goodness me Richard, I am not usually a lover of BBQ but that sounded and looked fantastic! Sounds like you did it justice as well. Well done.
