If you can’t get into the garden because its raining how about making some welsh cakes. Our family have tried many different recipes but find this one to be our favourite, and make them quite often. It is one that we found on the internet, its by a welsh lady, Betty who explains how to make them.- ( you will need to soak the fruit in milk so best to do that the night before it rains lol ! )
If you haven’t got a griddle or such like I’m told that you can use a frying pan instead although we have not tried it that way.
We find the welsh cakes very tasty and the video entertaining too.
hope you like it. here is the link:-
I have included a picture of just a few welsh cakes- as we ate the rest !

We use to have them without the caster sugar taste better. the stones are well worth buying they cook a lot better I thought before I seen the video a gridle! no a stone lol

Thanks Sandra I can recommend them.
I believe that the iron ones are called griddles (or stones- even though they are made of metal ) Morgana, as the welsh usually call the welshcakes 'bakestones' -thats what all my family call them - either way they taste great -we are always making them :-)

My mother made them on a bakestone. I used to steal them when they were still hot.

:O Hywel lol I think we all did Hywel show how short and rare we got treats. My mum tried making them on a gridle and frying pan, she said they don't cook as good.

No you can only make them on a bakestone. They don't taste right otherwise. And you must always use the same bakestone and never wash it in soapy water - only wipe it over.

Yes you are right Hywel as she got a neighbour to fetch her one back from Wales, and never as a child do I ever remember her washing it up, nor me as I use to have to most of the washing up as there were 7 of us not counting my mum and dad .
