Another month on

Its been another month now (3 months in total since we started the venture) and things are happening in the veg plot. Things are starting to take shape and the visual landscape of the plot is changing day by day. It started with a barren piece of ground which we fenced off
the original bit of land.
and has been slowly transformed into a somewhat cottage style vegetable garden on a large scale!
view of the 3 beds which contain carrotts, parsnips, peas. Then salad and herb bed for lettuce, raddish, beetroot, spring onions, chives, tomatoes (which have only just been planted out, then the end bed for onions, garlic and elephant garlic.
close up of salad bed and the onions and garlic behind.
The beds on the other side are potatoes, onions and a small patch for a variety of pumpkins, squashes, gordes and sunflowers. The sunflower heads when seeded will be given to the chucks who like pecking on them.
Apart from all the planting I also built a pickett fence from old palletts. They were broken up and reconstructed and painted white, well only half the fence has been done so far. Need Tom Sawyer for a day.
But the result is pleasing. The whole fence was finished off with a somewhat mad gate, make your own minds up on that one!
Well at least the chucks are still happy
and Louis the cat is still up to mischief. He really enjoys annoying us by getting tangled up in the mesh that was supposed to keep rabbitts and chickens off and sitting on the lettuce, but he cant help himself. He’s more trouble than the chucks!!
Theres probably loads more I could say but I’ll save some for ‘another month on’ , next time. Keep on GOY ing as I like to look at all the stuff even though I dont always find time to reply to everyone.

That must have been a lot of hard work but it certainly seems to have been worth it.
