Sunny Sunday

The weather held out for me today and we have had a lovely sunny day.
Still quite cold but at least it’s dry. I spent 3 hours outside and thoroughly enjoyed it. Mostly clearing out.

There’s still quite a bit of colour about. This beberis (?) looks lovely behind my little angel

I managed to get lots of clearing done and now the garden looks quite bare in places. I found lots of slugs particularly little ones so I have sprinkled some slug pellets to save my favourite primulas.

I even persuaded Chris to come out to turn my compost bin.. bit too much heavy digging over for me.

My fault entirely as I will insist on filling it with grass cuttings. All that happens to them is that they end up in a heaving soggy mass that’s disgusting. I have promised myself that I will not do it again next year and that I will layer it properly.

This hebe is lovely for the first time, I’ve always been disappointed by it in the past

Heather and Juniper in the top rockery… they’ll be good all winter.

Penstemmon still in flower, just about finished now.

This fuschia still has a little time left. It’s very leggy this year as I had some foxgloves in front of it that deprived it of light so it’s grown tall with nothing at the bottom. (Wish I could say the same of my bottom!)

I’ve cut down everything in the section in front of the new fence as I’m going to have this as my dahlia bed for next year. Hopefully my compost will be ready in spring for Chris to dig in.

Despite my previous picture of this sunflower and my thoughts to bring it inside, which I never got round to, IT STILL HASN’T FLOWERED!

What a satisfying day :o)

You've had a busy day. Some lovely views of your garden. I like the Lamium.

Go on - back outside! You've got leaves to rake! LOL.

Seriously, well done. You got a lot done and I'm glad that you had sunshine. Several other people did as well - but not here. We've had a dull and drizzly day.

Thanks Spritzhenry... although I did all sorts of jobs today, picking up leaves wasn't one of them... I'm hoping to persuade my son, Declan, to do them this week..

I get to do it all - unless it's dry enough for my husband to run the mower over my rakings, which saves me having to pick them all up!

Hi Sal,you were not the only one who played out in the garden last Sunday, I got Margaret to spend some time picking up the leaves from the flower beds (don't know how many flowers are missing)

Rennie... I presume you didn't play out and got Margaret doing all the hard work as usual.

I did play out on Sunday (after I had been to Squires on the Bandit), did a bit of pruning, and weed removal after I had cut the grass then took all the surplus to the tip as my compo bin is full

Rennie... I hope you have layered your compost bin properly! Do you feel like calling to cut my grass this weekend?
