My Poor Wisteria - I can't believe they did this?!!

After answering a Q about someone’s Wisteria it reminded me about what happened to mine and I had some pictures so thought I would share.

My Wisteria before the little vandal viciously ripped it from it’s pot and threw it on the ground.

As you can see a very healthy plant, after looking though it had died last year it sprang back to life this May, I was so happy.

The damage, I was so upset when I saw this… to think a child would just come on to my garden and do this to one of my plants for no reason. I lost a lot of the top growth as they broke the stem when they ripped it out and lots of the roots were ripped too but still it survives I am shocked.

More pics of the damage

The hole top just ripped off :(

looking a little bare at the top now but since this pic was taken in June I am pleased to say lots of new green leaves have grown and it’s slowly getting near to the size in first picture, slowly. :)

Ahh well this is my first blog, I am working on my first proper one at the moment following the progress of my back garden make-over. It will be at least another month before it will be ready though as the weather has halted much progress but as soon as I make progress I shall share with you all.

Happy gardening and have a lovely summer break all GOYERS. :)))))) x

Hello Sharni, and welcome to Goy. Its just so appalling whats happened to your poor Wisteria and maddening too. I`m sure though with a little bit of TLC it will bound back again.
Look forward to seeing you back garden make-over, lets hope for an improvement in the weather its been such a strange summer - if you can call it that.

Thanks guys... it's looking very healthy but can only imagine what it would of looked like had it been left alone and not tortured. Poor thing is going to be stuck in that big pot for another year hopefully by then I shall find a place for it, the back garden is taking lonnnnggggg as am doing it all myself and I have medical problems which leave me with such little energy it seems to be taking forever but I shall get there eventually. :)

Good to see the Wisteria is thriving ... did you see a child do the damage to it? ..... Let's hope for sunnier days ahead . . . . .

Sharni07, I daren't say what I'm thinking!
But I can say 'keep at it and do what you can, when you can'. Give your Wisteria some TLC and I'm sure it will do you proud - they're pretty tough. :-))

Thanks for all the comments. :)

I am pleased to say so far my wisteria is looking good. And yes I saw the little vandal run off, she got a strong telling of from the police and my neighbours child who was with her too, I love kids, have 3 of my own but this one is a real little brat, I was so angry I called the police on them as I have been getting so much verbal abuse of them over the garden fence I'd had enough hurting my plants is just a step to far.

Ahh my back garden, I am so dying to post pics up but thus far nothing to show, still painting fences and leveling of the soil for slabs but pics will come soon I HOPE lol. I have the before pics all ready in my blog I just need the during and AFTER ones too. :) x x

I can't tell you how upsetting this was to me (??). It's not even my wisteria. I can't imagine how I would react to this.
Looking forward to seeing your pics!

I'm so sorry this has happened to you Sharni! What is the world coming to, to use a well worn cliche, I would never have dreamt of even stepping on to someone's pathway let alone doing damage like this! It's heartbreaking, but it looks as though it's pulling through. I've had wall baskets ripped off my wall in a previous house, so I know a bit of how you're feeling. Carry on in the back garden, and if they come back, just lift your pots, with some help, and relocate them into the back, where you can appreciate them in peace yourself. I'm fuming on your behalf!! Chin up!

What is wrong with some people?????? Why do some people just want to destroy things that bring pleasure to others?????? What harm does a garden do! I'm afraid I would have chased the perpetrator and ripped his/her head off to see how they like it! Hope the plant recovers and becomes a joy to behold.

if i could get my hands on these mindless youths, whats their problem, i would love to march them round to their parents and see what they had to say, in some cases probably nothing :o(

Hi Sharni,

Well done on rescuing you Wisteria, I have been giving mine lots of water as you suggested, today i will have another good look at it to see where we are. I don't understand why Kids are like they are today, I personally, blame lack of discipline and parental guidance. Well done you !
