Lovely grounds, planted well.

We had a 3 night break to a hotel in Hampshire last weekend where I was so happy to see the way the grounds were planted up.

Here is a selection of the photographs I took, hopefully you will like them too!

The three Alstroemerias I planted in my garden are no more, unless they are hiding, waiting to flower.

These ones were stunning.

Some of the Roses were beautiful, with gorgeous scent.

I did like the blue with orange, cannot remember the name of the blue flowers though.

Grasses were swaying in the breeze, Erysimum Bowles’s Mauve filled the bed, trees are regrowing after a huge cutback and logs are kept for various uses in the future.

Back home now, rain is pouring down, wind is blowing, it must be school half term!

I treated myself to an Alstroemeria ‘Indian Summer this morning, along with a Salvia ’Caradonna’.

That is lovely planting...hope the new Alstromeria does well for you...last Autumn I mulch them here and they all came through.

I think your Alstromerias should be well up now Shirley.
When did you plant them?

I had 4 in pots but so far 2 leaves on one plant :(

i think the blue flower is Lithodora.

was the hotel nice too?

Julia, this new one will definitely be mulched.

Rose, whilst looking around yesterday I think I spotted a small Alstro, will look properly tomorrow. They were planted in August last year.

Lithodora, thanks Eileen, I shall look that up. Hotel was very busy, not sure I would return.

Glad you had a lovely time. I don’t know why it happens, but sometimes Alstros just go dormant. You should have more success with Indian summer. X
