I like the Acer too, never had one before. Just hope it is in the right place. it is against a north facing fence and therefore at this time of year gets no direct sunlight.

you have a nice garden graeme, i love the acer to, ive got a dark one which its name im unsure and just got a orange dream which is fab, i repotted my older one last year as it seemed to look fragile and leaves didnt seem to be fully open, but once in new pot (bigger) it came back to full life ;o))

Your garden looks very neat and tidy, I want an acer too :-(, won't grow here though, have tried, just too exposed and windy the leaves just shrivel, oh well can't have everything have to make do with a sambucus nigra 'black lace' instead still thats lovely and doesn't mind the wind :-)

Acers don't like too much sun so yours should be fine. They are hardy too but as Simbad says they do not like the wind. What plum did you get? We bought one two years ago. Had a great load last year (It's first fruiting) but not too many blossoms on it this year.
