Creme Eggs

I was listening to a cookery question and discussion programme on Radio 4 this morning and somebody asked what the panel thought about the new Creme Egg recipe. It was amazing that the BBC allowed it but it was wonderful. They opened the question to the audience as well, even throwing samples to audience members who asked for one and everybody hated it. I hope the folk responsible at the factory were listening to all the people who said they would never buy chocolate of that make again! I sat in the car cheering to myself – after all they did say at the takeover they weren’t going to change anything. And I never mentioned the name of the manufacturer – you all know who it is!

i think I prefer the new recipe for them and my daughter says she likes it but cant really remember what they tasted like last year anyway.

Congratulations, you are the first I've heard say that!

Quote from a newspaper ... 'In 2015, the conglomerate announced that it had changed the formula of the Creme Egg by replacing its Dairy Milk chocolate with "standard cocoa mix chocolate".'
'It had also reduced the packaging from 6 eggs to 5 with a less than proportionate decrease in price.'
'This resulted in a large number of complaints from consumers with calls to boycott the Creme Eggs and the company.'

Didn't they say someting about no staff losses too?.....hmmmm
but I do like their big buttons......
25 Jan, 2015
Yes. Pam ... I agree ... the big chocolate buttons taste wonderful ... let's hope they don't alter the recipe for making those !!!

Not amazing, J ... I've never liked the C. Creme Eggs either ... but I don't like the idea of their usual chocolate recipe being abandoned for cheaper alternatives ...
25 Jan, 2015
I haven't bought one of those for many years. I'm not really fond of them.
They've probably done it because it's cheaper for them :(
25 Jan, 2015
... or they've been mistakenly collecting their creme eggs from the wrong type of chocolate hens ;o)

:D

Faulty market hen research then! Can't say I'm all that keen on them either - its the principle of the thing that bugs me.

Oh dear my youngest brother will be devastated, he absolutely loves them, has done since he was a toddler and he's now in his fifties and can eat them any time of the day even straight after a big meal, yuk, I've always found them to be too rich for my taste but haven't tried the new ones, in fact I didn't even know about the change of recipe, I've always preferred plain chocolate anyway...
I do love my goy pages for relaxation on a cold afternoon, always something new to learn,lol.....

I prefer plain dark chocolate these Eggs are far to sweet for me I have to say I hadn't heard anything about any changes My OH likes them I'll wait to see if he has any and if he notices the difference ... probably not they go down the hatch to quickly !!
25 Jan, 2015
What annoys people though is that they promised not to change and now when they think we've forgotten they have. And replaced proper chocolate which a lot of folk did love with a cheap substitute.

Latest news ...
available in stores from next week ...
... Marmite Easter eggs and Pot Noodle Easter eggs
... goodie goodie goodie ...
27 Jan, 2015
Marmite chocolate is very strange, believe me! It smells of Marmite. I like Marmite - my dad loved it, and I was brought up on toast and Marmite at breakfast, but I'm not too sure I think it is at its best combined with chocolate. But I'm not much of a chocolate lover anyway.
Pot Noodle Easter eggs??? ?
27 Jan, 2015
On the Wright Stuff TV show today, several panellists tried the Marmite Easter eggs and everyone liked the taste ...
... but there was no mention of the Pot Noodle eggs ...

But make sure youremove the "chocolate" before he gets them.
27 Jan, 2015
Theobromine-free version for Truffle please, Sue.
How will the sardine Easter eggs be packaged ...?
... perhaps the traditional way ?
... in a can, with a metal key to unwind the lid to open ? ;o)
28 Jan, 2015
A knotty problem - I haven't researched that one yet. Or how to produce a theobromine free version. This may take some time...

An interesting piece from the Torygraph http://www.telegraph.co.uk/foodanddrink/foodanddrinknews/11351308/Why-Cadburys-new-Creme-Egg-is-not-all-its-cracked-up-to-be.html
This was a big topic at work this week - world disasters, health crises ... nobody says a word, but a chocolate that none of us eat and every one had an opinion. The version in the Roses tins always get left to last. I can only remember them as teeth-achingly sweet but I will kill for a Jamesons Raspberry Ruffle Bar.
7 Feb, 2015
Never heard of those, I will look out for them. I will be interesting to see what happens to the sale figures of Cadburys in general if anything.

HiSue, I think it's usually the case when some company gets taken over, '' nothing will change'', what they mean of course, is that nothing will change immediately, then some brainbox on the board decides that their idea will be better than a proven product, then it goes down the proverbial, Derek.
